He was getting lapped by the leaders who were battling for 1 and 2. He needed to get out of the way. Instead his car is messed up and he pretty much determined the winner in what otherwise was shaping up to be a great finish at the wire.

Looks like me leading in forza. Punt for you punt for you oh and a punt for you too! The bloke was on a tear but that move was much less than sublime. 5 seconds of woah would have saved someone a trip to the carriage works. An otherwise stellar performance in the rain marred by impatience.
